Add any headlines, text and images you’d like to your home page to display. Be sure to click Update to save.
If your theme enables customization you’ll add these elements via the Customizer. Go to Appearance > Customize. These options may be named: Large rectangle slider, full screen landing, full width slider, small posts slider, feature head, featured categories, featured image panels, popular posts bar, posts carousel, widgets
Once you’ve finished making your changes click Update to save if you’re in the Page view.
In you’re using the Customizer click Publish. Preview your changes. If you don’t want to show the page title, uncheck it under Page Options beneath your post.
How to add Content to your Blog page
Go to Pages > (your name) Blog > Edit
Type in a headline and text to describe your blog and what makes it unique. This text will only show if you choose >Your Homepage Displays >”Your latest posts”
Most themes will automatically display your blog roll on this page, however with some themes you may need to add an additional shortcode to display blog posts. If your blog posts don’t show up automatically, add a shortcode to the Blog page with each category separated by a comma (like this):
ashe_blog categories=“email, iphone, mac, music, wordpress” Be sure to add the square bracket before and after.
To find the actual categories you want to display, go to Posts > Categories and make note of which ones you want to appear on the blog page. Any category with two words should be separated by a hyphen. So music media would appear music-media in your list.
Once you’ve finished making your changes click Update to save in Page view.
Publishing a WordPress Blog?
You’ll want your Home page to display your blog posts so you’ll select Your latest posts under “Your homepage displays” under Settings > Reading.
Some themes allow additional page elements besides just displaying your posts. You’ll access these elements through Appearance > Customize. Elements such as an email signup form, banner, custom category blocks and more are useful if you’re trying to monetize your blog.
One of the themes I use is Pipdig which does allow you to choose “Your latest posts” plus add other elements to the home page. Many other themes don’t or they require a page builder plugin to add these elements to the home page.
Publishing a WordPress Website?
Under Your homepage displays (Settings > Reading) choose “a static page” to display more content other than blog posts. This is useful if the main purpose of your site is for a business or service which requires additional elements like testimonials, offer banners, custom headers etc. Some themes allow additional custom options for the home page through the Customizer. If your theme doesn’t, you can choose a plugin like Elementor or Beaver Builder to create a custom home page you can customize with a variety of content
